Russell Schaub Obituary Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel - Douglas on May 23, 2025. Publish in a newspaper Russell Kay Schaub, 81, of Douglas, Wyoming entered the presence of his Saviour on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming after a short illness. He was born Sunday January 9, 1944 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska the son of Edward Kay and Mary Ida (Russell) Schaub. Russell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and educator. He leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and cherished memories. On November 23, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Kathryn Louise Carpenter, and together they built a beautiful life in Douglas filled with love, laughter, and three wonderful children: Rick, Debbie and Jamie. His family was his greatest joy, and he delighted in spending time with them, sharing stories, laughs, and encouragement. Russell's faith was at the center of his life, guiding him with love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion. A committed Christian, he found great joy in worship, prayer, and sharing the message of Jesus Christ with those around him. His love for the Lord was evident in his kindness, generosity, and the way he lived his life with compassion and integrity. Whether teaching, supporting his family, or engaging with his church community, he sought to reflect the love of Christ in all that he did. His faith gave him strength and comfort, and his legacy as a devoted follower of Jesus continues to inspire those who knew him. Russell was passionate about education and spent over three decades shaping young minds as a high school history teacher from 1968 to 1999. He graduated from Denver University and pursued higher education at the University of Wyoming, earning his master's degree-a testament to his lifelong commitment to learning. His students remember him not just for his knowledge but for his use of media to teach his students. Beyond the classroom, Russell had a love for travel and photography, capturing moments of beauty and history wherever he went. He was able to visit all 50 States during his lifetime and countless national historical sites, national parks and presidential museums during his summer vacations and in retirement. Whether exploring new places or simply capturing memories with his family, his photographs spoke to his appreciation for the life he lived. Russell never missed a chance to grab his camera when family was around. Whether it was a big celebration or just a casual get-together, he was there, snapping pictures, making sure every smile and laugh was saved. He had a way of photographing the little moments-the ones that might've seemed ordinary at the time but turned into wonderful memories. In his later years, he spent a lot of his time reading, working puzzles and running concessions during Douglas athletic events. According to his count, he put together over two thousand puzzles, read over one thousand books and covered concession for hundreds of events. He loved helping Kathy make quilts for all their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He took on full responsibility for measuring and cutting all the quilting squares for all the beautiful quilts. Russell is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Schaub of Douglas; his children, Rick (Tracy) Schaub of North Platte, Nebraska, Debbie (Scott) Ramsey of Douglas and Jamie Schaub of Cheyenne; his grandkids, Ashley (Bryce) Streger, Naomi (Tyler) Schultz, Aaron (Linnaea) Schaub, Hannah (Trevor) McReynolds, Rhylee (Kyle) Mirich, Lyndsey Ramsey, Lauren Schaub and Sarah Schaub; and 9 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Schaub, his mother Mary Schaub, and sisters LaDonna Schaub and Pam Barber. Russell's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will never be forgotten. His life was a testament to the Lord, his family, and constant curiosity. Though he may no longer walk among us, his impact lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family and friends.
