Obituary

Maxine Hazel (York) Moore June 6, 1947 — May 8, 2024 Maxine Hazel (York) Moore, age 76, passed away peacefully May 8, 2024 after a courageous 4 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 6, 1947 in Douglas, Wyoming to Walter and Hazel York. Maxine attended and graduated from Douglas High School in 1965, where she had the prestigious honor of being crowned “Miss Merry Christmas.” Following high school, she married William H. (Bill) LeBar. Their life took them to Casper, Wyoming where their children, Karin and Kirk were born. Maxine and Bill divorced several years later. Maxine met and married Richard C. (Butch) Moore bringing son Frank into the family. No one made a friend quicker than Maxine or “Max” as she was known by so many friends and family. There wasn’t a sweeter soul to be found! If you knew her, you loved her. Early on in her lifetime she was a “stay at home” mom, she taught Baton Twirling, sold Avon, Mary Kay and even made and sold jewelry. Maxine began her work life at Salt Creek Freightways and later worked at KTWO Radio where she was fondly known as “Magic Max.” After leaving the radio station, she then went to work for Helmerich & Payne. Maxine worked and retired from Natrona County School District as an Aide on the Special Needs Buses. She enjoyed working with the children very much! Maxine loved having lunch with her friends, watching crime stories, old Westerns, and Spanish Soap Operas. Gambling was a hobby enjoyed by her, but never paid off… and she didn’t care. Maxine said it was just her social activity! Maxine was a member of the KanKan Girls and performed at many local venues in her earlier years. She loved and cared deeply for her family and friends. Maxine was known for her positivity in life and her kind nature. She always had time for others and a never complaining demeanor. The family believes this is what gave her strength during her cancer journey. Obviously, Heaven was in need of another angel and called her home. There is no doubt a beautiful reunion was had by those waiting for her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter in law, Cori Moore and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her first husband Bill, died in 2016. Maxine was widowed by her second husband, Butch in 2019. Survivors include her daughter, Karin (Mark) Galloway, son Kirk LeBar, son Frank Moore; her sister Bonnie (David) Olson and brother Hank York. Grandchildren Jacob Galloway, Zachary Galloway, Sophia LeBar and Mason LeBar, Richard (Rachelle) Moore, Brooklyn (Bob) Maxwell; great grandchildren Bristol, Reece, Parker, Cooper, Colter, McKinleigh, Haisley, Natalie and Daxton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home, 600 CY Avenue in Casper. Maxine will be laid to rest immediately following the service at the Oregon Trail State Veteran’s Cemetery in Evansville. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to: Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions 319 S. Wilson Casper, WY 82601.
